PRINCES STREET

(Words and Music by Terry Moore)

Dublin has O’Connell, New York, Fifth Avenue
Paris has the “Arc”, and the Champs-Elyesees too
But if you ever visit Edinburgh, just direct your feet
And make your way to Princes Street.

See the beauty of the city, on a sunny summers’ day
All the tourist takin’ pictures, as they walk along their way
It’s a magic atmosphere, no city can compete
That’s the wonder of Princes Street.

Oh! Princes Street, You’re so unique
With a Castle in the air, and the history at your feet
A pretty lady on your arm, makes it all complete
As we stroll down, Princes Street.

We’ll walk down to the gardens, as lovely as they say
Or sit by the bandstand, and hear the music play
See the Monument so high, to Sir Walter Scott
Then hear the Gun go off, at exactly one o’clock.

And wonder at the Castle, built on solid rock
All the fancy shops, and the Floral Clock
Drop by the Balmoral, for afternoon tea
On the corner, next to Waverley.

Oh! Princes Street, You’re so unique
With a Castle in the air, and the history at your feet
A pretty lady on your arm, makes it all complete
As we stroll down, Princes Street.

Then we’ll head up to the Old Town, and spend a little while
Walk the cobbled streets, all along The Royal Mile
See the sun as it sets, upon Arthurs Seat
And make our way back, to Princes Street.

Oh! Princes Street, You’re so unique
With a Castle in the air, and the history at your feet
A pretty lady on your arm, makes it all complete
As we stroll down, Princes Street.

A pretty lady on your arm, makes it all complete
As we stroll down, Princes Street
