THE SALVATION HALLELUJAH BAND

(Words and Music by Terry Moore)

And they all sang hallelujah, on the corner of our street
A Sunday morning service, where the old men usually meet
Oh! I remember years ago, most Sundays they would show
And they would tour the streets, tryin’ to save lost souls.

And they would start to pray, then the band would play out
And as the church bells ring, they would start to sing
About the Lord, and the Sabbath Day
Then they would stop to pray, all the kids would play round
All the ladies sang, with tambourines in their hand
The Salvation Hallelujah Band.

Then the Major done a reading, from the pages of the “Big” Book
About the “Devil and Damnation”, all according to St. Luke
Then he would bow his head and pray, for the souls who’ve lost their way
And they would move to another street, and do it all over again.

And they would start to pray, then the band would play out
And as the church bells ring, they would start to sing
About the Lord, and the Judgement Day
Then they would stop to pray, all the kids would play round
All the ladies in black, with bows in their hats
The Salvation Hallelujah Band.

And they would start to pray, then the band would play out
And as the church bells ring, they would start to sing
About the Lord, and the Judgement Day
Then they would stop to pray, all the kids would play round
All the people sang, with tambourines in their hand
The Salvation Hallelujah Band.
All the ladies in black with bows in their hat
The Salvation Hallelujah Band.
